Former U.S. Sen. John Danforth Endorses Jared Young in the Missouri United States Senate Race
ST. LOUIS, MO—August 29, 2024-- Former U.S. Senator John C. Danforth has announced his endorsement of Jared Young in the race for the United States Senate representing Missouri.
Danforth, who served three terms as Senator (R) from Missouri from 1976 to 1995, also served two terms before that as Missouri Attorney General. Later in his career, he served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
“I am honored by Sen. Danforth’s endorsement,” Young said. “We share the belief there are real solutions to complex problems if we can reject the angry, divisive tactics that have overtaken American politics.”
Young is a moderate conservative and independent candidate running under the Better Party for the United States Senate seat representing Missouri.
“I started an entirely new political party for independents based on the reality that the vast majority of Americans say they want another option,” Young said. “The voters are demanding new leaders who can govern without fighting and campaign without personal attacks.”
Danforth’s office issued the following in announcing his endorsement:
Statement by John C. Danforth, three-term U.S. Senator (R.) from Missouri and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations
I am pleased to endorse Jared Young in the contest for U.S. Senator from Missouri. Jared embraces the ideas that have always defined the Republican Party and have been universally accepted across its membership. These ideas are also at the core of a new organization I co-founded earlier this summer – Our Republican Legacy. The purpose of this organization is to restore the Republican Party to its root principles, which have always been defined as follows:
As a lifelong conservative now running on the Better Party ticket, Jared Young stands for the Constitution, Unity, Fiscal Responsibility, Free Markets and Peace through Strength. Josh Hawley rejects all of these.
